Jerk 45
Jerk 45 vit et travaille à Paris. Après avoir suivi une formation en arts graphiques, Jerk 45 fonde, en 1990, le collectif 9e Concept avec Stéphane Carricondo et Ned. Comme certains font des mots un poème, Jerk 45 fait de l’univers quotidien une scène tout à la fois poétique, foisonnante et fantastique. Que ce soit à ses débuts ou dans sa peinture actuelle, l’anecdote est présente, par le sujet lui-même – qui pourrait venir d’un dessin animé – et également par le procédé. L’univers bien réel est toujours présent chez lui, tiré de journaux des années 60 / 70. Les personnages se fondent les uns aux autres par un jeu de couleurs et de formes qui se croisent, s’entremêlent et se mélangent.
Jerk 45 lives and works in Paris. He studied graphic arts before teaming up with Stéphane Carricondo and Ned to found 9e Concept, a collective. Some people craft words into poems, Jerk 45 smiths his everyday universe into a poetic, pregnant and preposterous performance. The anecdotes that populated his work at the start are still there, in the subjects – which could well have jumped out of a cartoon strip – and in the process. The real world is also there – never hijacked or altered – in his paintings and collages (most often black and white). That world he depicts is usually from 1960s and 1970s newspapers. The characters melt into each other, and the colours and shapes overlap, intermingle and blend.
